Agroforestry-Practical-Seminar

Climate change, drought, soil erosion, water pollution, increasing loss of biodiversity – there are good reasons to think about sustainable agriculture. Agroforestry can solve economic, ecological and social problems, because trees on farmland or green spaces are beneficial for agriculture, nature and the climate, and also lead to higher yields. Depending on the needs of the soil, either easy or dynamic agroforestry is used.
In Sieben Linden, this vision is already becoming a reality: fertile, humus-rich soil, high biomass growth, healthy plants and resilience to climate change (drought, heavy rain, extreme temperatures, storms) can already be seen on the 17-hectare certified organic Nordacker farm with its five species-rich agroforestry strips. Over the last five years, native fruit and nut trees (apple, plum, pear, walnut, chestnut) have been planted alongside berry fruits and other woody plants. In addition, two rows of fast-growing trees have been planted to produce biomass for use as mulch. The soil between the tree strips is tilled with a tractor and cereals and oilseeds are harvested annually. This agroforestry area is constantly being expanded – join us, learn and plant with us.
This seminar covers the following topics in theory and practice:
- strategic planning of agroforestry areas
- professional tree planting
- Gehölzpflege nach der Pflanzung
- Baum- und Strauchschnitt zur Pflege von Agroforstflächen
- Charcoal burning and enrichment of biochar for its application (Terra Preta)
- die Rentabilität von Agroforstflächen
- gemeinschaftliches Arbeiten im Agroforst unter fachlicher Anleitung
