Contents and schedule of the Urban Forest Gardens 2025 symposium in Berlin

Organised by Urban Forest Gardens: In view of the increasing demands on urban green spaces (climate protection, biodiversity, increased pressure of use, desire for participation, urban gardening, etc.), urban forest gardens can serve as a novel, multifunctional solution. One of the aims of the ‘Urban Forest Gardens’ project is to give various stakeholders practical experience with model projects, familiarise them with the concept of forest gardens in the city and reduce the barriers to entry for the implementation of urban forest gardens. With this aim in mind, a nationwide, participatory symposium will take place in Berlin from 25 to 28 September.
In addition to lectures and workshops, there will also be an informative guided tour of the model site ‘Kleingartenpark Waldgarten’ in Berlin Britz (Neukölln). At an evening reception with a poster exhibition of various forest garden initiatives existing nationwide, you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with others in a relaxed atmosphere. In order to bring together experts and voluntary initiatives, the symposium will take place on both weekdays and weekends, with Friday in particular offering all participants the opportunity to exchange experiences in detailed dialogue formats.

The first two days (25/26 September 2025) are aimed in particular at professionals from the fields of administration, planning, green professions and environmental education.
At the weekend (27/28 September 2025), the focus will be on networking and the exchange of experiences between existing and new urban forest garden initiatives.
